Muthu Engal Sothu has Prabhu as an orphan, who was adopted by a wealthy family. Poornam Vishwanathan the father of the family, raises him as one of the family even though others outside the family see his as a servant. Relatives and friends of the family see Prabhul as a thorn in their plans to control the wealth of the family. Manipulating Vishwanathan's son, they accuse Kamal of theft and throw him out of the house. Vishwanathan accepted Prabhu is real son of him and changed the property to Prabhu. Climax usually follows Thengai Srinivasan get caught by Prabhu.
